  • Primary Location: Avenida Juvenal Arantes, nº 2500, Galpão 19, Condo, Jundiai, Sao Paulo 13212-354 BRAEmployment Type: Salaried | Full-TimeFunction: EngineeringEqual Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/DisabledPosition Summary The Product/Design Engineer will be responsible for managing a full range of engineering activities in line with product design, customization, relevant processes and quality, by supplying specialist advice and support across projects and to other functions as appropriate.
  • In addition, responsible for product development from concept to commercialization across several projects at any one time from existing product improvement to new product development to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring that projects are on time, in full, within specification and to budget, by managing resources to achieve the desired output within the TriMas Packaging organization and outsource manufacturing worldwide.
  • Main Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for the design, integrity, safety and market competitiveness of packaging.
  • Design packaging to meet cost targets, quality/performance objectives and safety standards.
  • Communicate with Sales team, customers, suppliers and the TriMas Packaging organization.
  • Proactively establish and execute packaging cost reductions and quality and reliability improvements to maintain or increase market share and company profitability.
  • Design, conceptualize, prototype to ensure product integrity and appeal under varying shipping and retail conditions.
  • Partner with the design team to create suitable and competitive packaging solutions.
  • Identify risks and prepare mitigation plans.
  • Ability to create packaging and point of purchase displays using CAD or physical samples to make rendering.
  • Support tool design, quality board, and standards signoff.
  • Review, optimize, and validate packaging designs based upon prototype and costing.
  • Responsible for generation and delivery of concept and manufacturing design definitions based on technical specifications, requirements and other constraints.
  • Preparation and delivery of progress reports against project plans in coordination with the TriMas Packaging project management organization (PMO).
  • Create Microsoft Project and manage Gantt chart schedule with priorities to meet established timelines.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining relevant engineering processes and procedures.
  • Create detailed timeline, specifications and bill of materials to support the project.
  • Analyze and select materials for packaging based on durability and cost effectiveness including, but not limited to, Polymers, metal, or multi-material packaging.
  • Perform required packaging testing protocols to comply with client.
  • Work with internal and external packaging testing labs.
  • Perform laboratory tests or work with the Quality team to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
  • Review and resolve packaging issues with suppliers as needed.
  • Understanding of supply chain systems, distribution and manufacturing environments a plus.
  • Qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering Injection Molding part and tool design experience.
  • Multi-part plastic assembly, automation assembly and decoration process experience.
  • 3D CAD (Pro-E/Solid Works) experience.
  • Ability to analyze and drive tolerance stack up study.
  • Experience of MS Office specifically MS Project, Powerpoint, Teams, etc.
  • Ability to successfully manage several different initiatives/projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to Navigate in a matrixed corporation.
  • Good Root cause analysis and problem-solving skills Experience in part conceptualization to implementation.
  • Experience working in a fast moving consumer goods industry (beauty, electronics, food, etc.
  • ) Minimum of 3 years of experience as a design engineer.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Experience with developing and implementing successful solutions for complex manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in ISO9001, Food Grad/Pharma GMPs Project and process management.
  • Knowledge of FMEA/QFD/Design Verification Plan & Report tools.
