  • JOB SUMMARY:Responsible to develop, validate and implement packaging concepts for finished goods based on customer requirements and plant guidelines.
  • Additionally, recognizes opportunities on raw material suppliers packaging to optimize costs and handling.
  • Packaging engineer identifies, develops, leads, implements, and follows up improvement and/or cost savings/avoidance projects in logistics.
  • PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:Validate BOMs to ensure all packaging items are marked properly for cost and production relevancy to avoid PPVs and/or inventory deviations.
  • Responsible to design, validate and implement packaging concepts for finished goods based on customer requirements, International Standards, and plant guidelines.
  • Recognizes opportunities on raw material suppliers packaging to optimize costs and handling.
  • Main contact to cross functional teams, customer, and suppliers, to support topics related to design and quality of the expendable/returnable packaging.
  • Support on the analysis and monitoring of the packaging budget and forecast (Business Plan, Current Forecast, monthly cost reports).
  • Identifies, develops, leads, implements, and follows up improvement and/or cost savings/avoidance projects in logistics and cost/piece.
  • Usage of problem-solving tools to recommend and execute solutions to overcome issues to meet customer requirements.
  • Loop Calculations for returnable containers from different customers.
  • Create/Execute Engineering Changes Orders for packaging related updates/changes.
  • Support Operations areas (Production, Manufacturing and Quality) for Customer Packaging related surveys, quality/design issues, alternate packaging options, etc.
  • EDUCATION:Bachelor''s Degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE:General packaging processes knowledge Advanced.
  • Loop Calculation for Automotive Customers.
  • ASTM/AIAG/ISTA test standards requirements.
  • Automotive customer portals packaging information requirements.
  • KNOWLEDGE:Usage of software: NX preferred, SolidWorks/AutoCAD acceptable.
  • Budget & forecast development and tracking knowledge/skills for returnable containers.
