  • Open to Portuguese speakers** Project description Our client is the consulting arm of a global media organisation.
  • They are collaborating with Google on the Google News Initiative (GNI) , on a News Financial Sustainability Project focused on assessing the AI and technology maturity of 40 Brazilian news publishers .
  • This is part of GNIs mission to support digital transformation and long-term viability of the news industry globally.
  • The project involves engaging each publisher in a one-hour consultation call , analyzing their current digital and financial sustainability maturity, and delivering customized recommendation reports leveraging tools and insight libraries provided by the GNI team.
  • We are seeking Portuguese-speaking consultants with a strong background in the publishing/news/media industry , who can lead diagnostic calls and synthesize findings into tailored recommendations.
  • This is a fully remote, full-time engagement with support from an internal strategy team.
  • What You Will Be Doing Conduct 1-hour consultation calls in Portuguese with ~40 Brazilian news publishers using structured diagnostic tools and scripts.
  • Collaborate with the internal strategy team to align on assessment criteria and thematic focus areas.
  • Produce custom 10-page recommendation reports post-call, offering clear, actionable suggestions to improve each publishers digital and financial sustainability.
  • Translate reports from Portuguese to English with internal support.
  • Tailor insights and use case references from a centralized insight library/story bank to match each publishers context.
  • Track progress, coordinate schedules, and adapt workflows in alignment with the client team.
  • Your Background Must Have: 5+ years of experience in the news, publishing, or media sector with a strong understanding of editorial, operational, and business models.
  • Native or fluent Portuguese and professional working proficiency in English .
  • Proven ability to conduct stakeholder consultations or interviews and synthesize findings into concise reports.
  • Comfortable working with structured tools or scripts to guide diagnostic conversations.
  • Nice to Have: Exposure to AI, data, or digital transformation concepts in publishing (deep tech knowledge not required script and tools provided).
  • Experience with capability diagnostics or maturity assessments .
  • Prior consulting, strategy, or research experience (formal consulting toolkit a plus).
  • Familiarity with the Brazilian and/or broader LATAM media landscape .
